There are some really perfect spring colors in this shop update. Shed your dark winter wardrobe and slip into some of these lovely pastels! I think my favorite is that watercolor print blouse up at the top. It's really one of the most interesting prints I've ever seen on a 70s blouse, and since I've been collecting printed 70s blouses for a long time, I've seen a lot of them! Since it's a bit too small for me, someone else will have to enjoy its beauty. What are you doing to transition your outfits into the nicer spring weather?

eShakti Spring 2014
When eShakti asked if I wanted to review a piece from their Spring 2014 collection, I jumped at the chance to receive another one of their lovely items. So many of their dresses have such great vintage-like style. I chose this little polka dot chambray number knowing right away that I wanted to layer it with my white swiss dot blouse. Isn't the contrast hem the best? The monochromatic coloring of the dress makes it perfect for layering and fun colored accessories too!
I used the option where eShakti allows you to send in your measurements to receive a custom sized item, which was great except for the torso length. That isn't a measurement they take and this dress was almost two inches too long from the shoulder to the waist. That was a bit of a bummer, but I decided to just do a little surgery on the shoulders of the dress to make it work. It ended up bringing the neckline up pretty high, but I still really like how it looks. The craftsmanship on these dresses is so nice that it did kill me a little inside to go at it with my scissors and sewing machine. Oh well, it turned out fine in the end. I guess that's all that matters!

Orange Floral
You might recognize this skirt from a post I did about 6 months ago. It is honestly one of the most versatile pieces I have in my closet. In fact, right after we shot these photos yesterday, I decided to switch it up before we went out by ditching the denim jacket and green booties and replacing them with a long black cardigan and combat boots. I love owning something that can be styled in so many different ways! We had some friends in town visiting from the east coast this weekend, so yesterday afternoon we met up for drinks at the rooftop bar at the Ace Hotel downtown. The hotel is in the old United Artists building and there were a lot of really cool architectural details. It's nice to get out of our neighborhood every now and again to explore other parts of the city!

Fire & Bone
I'm so excited to finally be able to wear my snowshoe hare skull necklace from Fire & Bone! I was a backer for their wildly successful Kickstarter campaign, and it arrived last week. My good friend Matt Kroner is one of the co-founders of the company, so that's just makes it that much more fun to wear and show off to people. Keep an eye on these guys...I think you're going to be hearing about them more and more as they expand their business.
It was super HOT in LA this past weekend, so I had to bust out the sandals. This is what I wore on Saturday afternoon when Matt and I headed out for lunch in the neighborhood. Sunday was even hotter, so we went to the beach. No complaints here; I'll take the beach in winter over freezing cold temperatures any day!

Maxi dress and sandals from H&M / Vest from Goodwill
Skull necklace from Fire & Bone / Hat from Atlantic Attic Vintage / Sunglasses from Target

Red Headed Stranger
Whatcha Wearing?
Kick-ass Alaska Eagle t-shirt and flannel from Goodwill / Jeans from H&M
Nine West leather jacket from Beacon's Closet / Clarks boots from Zappos
This was my weekend coffee shop breakfasting/thrift store hunting/errand running/Super Bowl watching outfit. A low-key outfit for a low-key weekend. It's actually cold enough to pile on a few layers too. For a while there we had temperatures that stayed pretty steadily in the mid-70s to mid-80s I'm not complaining, I know that almost everyone else has been in a snowy deep freeze!
So here's my new hair cut and color care of the talented folks at the Vidal Sassoon Academy. They always do such an awesome job! It might have been a really early morning and a really long day at the Long Beach International Salon and Spa Expo, but I still had fun hanging out behind the scenes and having my cut done in the Sassoon booth. The deeper, less coppery red colors they used are a nice change from my usual orange color too. I haven't had such vibrantly red-red hair in a while and the deeper tones woven into the fringe give it a nice depth. Maybe I'll keep it this color for a while...

Whatcha Wearing?
Monki top from Buffalo Exchange / Vintage cardigan from Crossroads Trading
Shorts from H&M / Scarf from American Way Thrift / Bag from Council Thrift
Tights from We Love Colors / Sunglasses from Target / Army boots from Goodwill
I just realized that it's been over two months since I last posted here. Time flies during the holidays and when you're traveling! Since my last post, I've made two trips to Las Vegas and one to Cincinnati. Seems kind of crazy for such a short amount of time.
I wore this last Saturday for free museum day here in Los Angeles. Matt and I went downtown to check out MOCA and have lunch. After living in NYC, it never ceases to amaze me how quiet DTLA is. Where are all the honking cars? Where are all the pedestrians? Regardless, we had a great time! On Sunday I did a hair modeling job for Vidal Sassoon at the Long Beach Salon and Spa Expo, so I'm going to look a bit different in my next post. It was a long day, but lots of fun and I really like how my new cut and color turned out! I'll make a point of taking photos this weekend and not wait another two months this time...
