Whatcha Wearing?
Vintage dress and shoes from St Vincent de Paul
Vintage sweater from Goodwill / Necklace from Etsy

Seersucker is a very summery fabric, so I decided to further combat the June gloomies by making this dress more appropriate for the chillier weather. I think it's a lot of fun with the striped sweater, but the dress is a bit too bulky (you can see it here and here) to layer things over it like this. I'm not totally sure if this outfit was a success! Oh well, you'll never know unless you try it on and find out...

Vintage dress and boots from Beacon's Closet
J Crew cardigan and belt from Buffalo Exchange
Tights from We Love Colors

Right now in LA we're being subjected to a phenomenon known as June Gloom. If you've never heard of it before, it's exactly what it sounds like, and it's giving me a serious case of the June gloomies. Because of this I thought it would be a good idea to bust out one of my favorite summer dresses and make it appropriate for the chilly temps we've been having. It's so strange, just last Saturday I was sweating my ass off in above 90 degree temps at Make Music Pasadena, and now I'm wearing tights and a cardigan...

Whatcha Wearing?
Maxi dress & sandals from H&M / Flannel shirt from Target / Hat from Venice Beach Boardwalk
Belt from Buffalo Exchange / Sunglasses from Nordstrom / Bracelets from Olvera St Market

I had a pretty spectacular California day on Sunday. We woke up early and headed over to the Santa Monica Farmers Market. After wandering around for a bit, we decided to grab a few beers down at the beach (it was past noon, we checked!). It was such a great day to just hang out in the outdoor seating area at On the Waterfront Cafe on the Venice Beach Boardwalk. Delicious beers and awesome people watching in the sunshine...what could be better on a Sunday afternoon? Matt has been looking for a summer hat lately, so after we finished our beer, we took a stroll down the boardwalk in search of one. Not only did he find one, but I did too! What do you think? I love it!

Mixing it Up

Whatcha Wearing?
Vintage cardigan from Goodwill / Altru t-shirt from Out of the Closet
H&M shorts from Buffalo Exchange / Shoes from Payless / Vintage bracelet from Day-Lab

This outfit is the exact opposite of the one in my last post. I never even considered putting these pieces together before this week, and I almost always wear these shorts and this t-shirt (separately) the same way over and over again. I decided to mix it up this time! I always thought of these shorts as only for fall and winter, but I think I'll try to work them into my spring wardrobe more. They're actually long enough that I don't have to wear tights, so I might as well explore those possibilities! I'll take just about any excuse to wear this t-shirt, so remixing it again and again shouldn't be a problem. Time to head back to the closet and see what else it works with!

Do you have an outfit that you wear over and over again, completely unchanged? Something that you can just throw on when you don't feel like thinking in the morning because you've worn it exactly that way so many times before and you already know it works? Well, this is that outfit for me. I've been wearing this exact outfit, pretty much unchanged for years. Hey, if it ain't broke...

Blouse, pants, and cuff from H&M / Sunglasses from Nordstrom
Vintage tie from Buffalo Exchange / Vintage cardigan and heels from Crossroads Trading Co

I was in Las Vegas part of last week for a work conference, and this is what I wore one of the days. My wardrobe in sadly lacking in business casual options, so I made a quick trip to H&M to put together the base of this outfit. I think I succeeded in being event appropriate while still having fun with my usual colorful vintage style...what do you think? The pants are actually longer than this, but I thought a cropped look was better, so I just cuffed them under.

Dress c/o eShakti
Bass flats from Crossroads Trading Co / Bracelet from Target

I was so happy when eShakti reached out to me to ask if I wanted to sample something from their Spring/Summer collection. To me, this is the perfect summer dress...simple, but effortlessly put together at the same time. It doesn't get any easier than this!

The great thing about eShakti is that you can customize the size and shape of the piece you purchase. I gave them my measurements and changed the length of the dress from below the knee to above the knee. You can also choose to have pretty much any dress made with or without pockets. I'm not sure why anyone wouldn't want pockets (I love them!), but it's great to have options. I did some of my own customization by wrapping the ties around and making a bow in the front instead of tying it in the back. I can't wait to wear this dress to a summertime picnic!
